Saturday’s Acropolis Night Run – 5kms around the Athenian Historical Center.  Running in the paved streets of Plaka, at the foot of the Acropolis was mind blowing at sunset.  A very well organized event with a lot of runners – the only problem was meandering around the narrower streets and by-passing the slower participants – even this was not a problem as it wasn’t an event to better your times, it was more “laid back and n’joy the ride type of race”!

Sunday’s Half Marathon.  Well this was a different story whatsoever.  Started a bit later than expected (10:00am from 09:30am) at Cape Sounio, we then ran up to the Temple of Poseidon and finished in the port of Lavrion.

21kms- trek and the one thing that stays in mind ……….ARE THE UPHILLS.  We did go prepared as the Event was called “The Poseidon Challenge” so one did expect some sort of challenge!!

Despite the many and abrupt inclines, the whole race was thoroughly enjoyable – very well organized, with alot of pitstops for water and isotonic drinks, gels, etc.  The surroundings were so picturesque that you didn’t feel the heat too much, despite the late start.  Before we knew it, we were at the finish line!!!!

Well done to both the organizers – definitely a must to repeat next year!!!!
